Karen Kushell is honored to join the IGP team as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. She earned her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and completed her clinical practicum at Occidental College’s Wellness Center, where she supported a diverse community of emerging adults. She holds a B.A. in Communication Studies from UCLA and completed post-baccalaureate studies in psychology at UC Berkeley.

Before becoming a therapist, Karen worked in creative and corporate roles across the entertainment, education, and nonprofit worlds, cultivating creativity, empathy, and life experience that inform her developing practice. She takes a strengths-based, collaborative approach to therapy, meeting clients where they are with warmth and genuine curiosity.

Karen enjoys working with people as they build insight, notice patterns, and make sense of the experiences that have shaped them. She understands that anxious and depressive distress often reflect the weight of life circumstances, and values exploring what it means to live with these challenges in a broader, individualized and empowering context. Karen is especially drawn to supporting clients through life transitions, “failure to launch” concerns, and moments when old stories no longer fit.
