What We’re About
Innovative Group Psychotherapy (IGP): A Modern, Integrative Approach to Mental Health
At Innovative Group Psychotherapy (IGP), we provide an integrative, evidence-based approach to mental health treatment that combines the depth of psychodynamic therapy with proven therapies such as EMDR-informed therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and expressive arts therapy.
This comprehensive approach is designed to address the root causes of emotional distress, not just the symptoms. Our clinicians work with children, teens, and adults experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions.
The Power of an Integrative Approach
What makes IGP’s therapeutic model unique is the integration of multiple evidence-based therapies grounded in neuroscience and trauma-informed care. By combining insight-oriented therapy with brain-based treatments, we help clients understand how past experiences influence current thoughts, emotions, and relationships while also providing practical tools to support meaningful change.
Our approach integrates:
Psychodynamic therapy to explore how early life experiences shape emotional patterns and relationships
Attachment-based therapy to understand how early caregiving relationships influence trust, safety, and connection
EMDR and EMDR-informed therapy to support trauma processing and strengthen internal coping resources
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify and shift unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors
Expressive arts therapy (art, music, writing, and movement) to support emotional expression and nervous system regulation
How Our Therapy Approach Works
Psychodynamic & Attachment Based Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy helps clients understand how unconscious patterns, early attachment experiences, and past relationships influence present emotional struggles. By gaining insight into these patterns, individuals can begin to break free from cycles that contribute to anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties.
EMDR and EMDR-Informed Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a highly effective treatment for trauma and PTSD. At IGP, some clinicians provide full EMDR therapy, while others incorporate EMDR-informed approaches, including resourcing and nervous system stabilization techniques that help clients build internal strengths and coping capacity before processing difficult experiences. These approaches support the brain’s natural ability to process and integrate distressing memories, making them less emotionally overwhelming.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT provides practical tools to identify and challenge negative thinking patterns, helping clients develop healthier perspectives and coping strategies. CBT is widely used to treat anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, and stress-related conditions.
Expressive Arts Therapy
Creative modalities such as art, music, writing, and movement allow clients to access emotions that may be difficult to express with words alone. Research shows that expressive therapies can calm the nervous system, increase emotional awareness, and support trauma processing.
The Science Behind Our Approach
Advances in neuroscience and trauma research show that the brain has the ability to change and heal throughout life—a concept known as neuroplasticity. This means that patterns shaped by trauma, anxiety, and depression can be reshaped through the right therapeutic interventions.
At Innovative Group Psychotherapy, our integrative model uses mind–body approaches that support nervous system regulation and create new neural pathways for emotional resilience and healing. We help clients move beyond survival patterns and develop a greater sense of balance, confidence, and emotional well-being.
